ok so im curious about how to swap my stock auto trans and transfer case
to a NV3550 five speed manual.
main things are bell house and drive shaft. oh and the trans mount

i have a 1991 XJ sport, 4.0 auto trans, dana 30/35 axles.

Why would you want to swap a good strong, long lasting trans for a weaker one that clutches need to be replaced on frequently?

If you feel the need to swap something then swap that crappy weak D35 for a Chy 8.25 29 spline, cheap, direct bolt-in, about equal to a D44. There you have a worthwhile swap that really gained you something for under $200 and even $100 at times.

i would rather have a 5 speed. and the axles are going up to dana 60s when the
time is available.

 

Just did a nv 3550 upgrade from ba10 on mine. Finding a tj nv much easier than a xj . A donor xj would give you all the little things that will be needed to complete a swap from auto to standard. Start at flywheel and work back just instal the nv inplace of the ax15 then part out whats left recoop some funds. Mine total ran about 700.00.
