Does anyone know if any company makes this style traction Bar for an xj:
I'm having some bad axle wrap and this seems like an easy bolt on solution. Unfortunately I don't have access to a welder so it seems like all the other options are a no go for me. Any other bolt-on/non welded solution would be great also. At the worst I can just get new springs and call it a day.
99XJ
8.25 rear
Skyjacker 3" leafs (3 years old but super flat don't buy them)
The design of the unibody/frame with the front leaf mount is different than what that traction bar was designed for, so I don't think that style is even feasible. I don't see where the front end could mount without some significant modifications.
My only thought would be to mount it off of a rail of a rock slider. I don't love those types of traction bars though, as it doesn't account for lengthening of the leaf during compression. It will actually force minor wrapping during normal suspension cycling...or severe stress everywhere else.
Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand
Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0

Forget you ever saw those things. Buy new leafsprings, along with the proper U-bolts. Dont reuse them. Buy new. Leafsprings are a PITA, but that is what you need. You will also need a torch.
If the spring steel was not correctly heat treated or made of chineseium, then yes they will sag over time. That is generally a sign of poor quality control and is usually the difference between a cheap spring and high quality one.

All springs sag eventually. As in 20-30+ year old springs. Sagging in the first three years is a sign of poor quality springs. Buy better quality.
If you have lift blocks, get rid of them. They only make axle wrap worse. Spend the money and get some good quality lift springs that give you the proper height.
The staggered shock setup (driver behind the axle, passenger in front of the axle) is actually very effective at reducing axle wrap all by itself. You shouldn't need to patch the suspension with a traction bar.
