Default Track bar question?

The gentleman who aligned my 99 xj today told me that my front end needed a adjustable track bar with a new bracket. What bracket would he be referring to? He explained without this certain bracket the front end wouldn't be correct if I would just use a adjustable track bar only. I told him I had just completed the lift and needed the track bar and he told me to make sure it comes with a certain bracket. I would like to order the correct track bar and bracket so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks fellow XJers
Doug

Any pictures of the front end?

What lift kit did you install?

How much lift?

Any changes to the steering system/linkage?

Maybe you should wait for the OP to reply with more info before suggesting parts that may not work for his needs or maybe not even be needed for that matter.

Condesending?

I can't look at his "car" since he hasn't post a pic.

What does my post count have to do with anything?

Yeah you need an adjustable track bar, and one with a drop bracket that lowers the body side mount but you will also need a drop pitman arm, something about the track bar and steering arm needing to be parallel that a more experienced member can tell you about, I'm guessing your drivers side wheel sticks out a few inches more than the passenger. the drop pitman arm will also lessen the crazy angles your tie rods are at right now
rough country has a good combo of track bar, bracket and drop pitman my friend runs it and has no problem.
check out the rough country link and you will see the upgrade option for the pitman arm, get both

Lift is 4.5" coils 3" bastard pack and 2.5" shackles. Discos and adjustable LCA's. Jeep drives true but front end is just not centered.

Thanks but is the drop pitman arm really necessary. Would a jz pitman arm work?

At 4.5 inches of lift a longer (Read: Adjustable) track bar is needed to properly locate the axle under the rig. A new axle side mount may or may not be needed. That will depend on the steering you are currently running.

Can you post a pic of the front end?

Generally speaking, no drop pitman arm needed at that lift height.

The steering is stock. Are there different steering setup's for the 99 xj?
