Why is the RC called a "cheapo"?? I havent had any problems with mine. I dont climb or beat my xj hard, but is it at risk for regular highway driving with it?

cheapo, is not referring to quality, but it is a cheap cost... it is a good product, and I have heard you can install a hiem or crawler joint in place of the ball joint

no it is fine for that, but the ball joint on the chassis side is VERY limiting and does not last long at all

Is the RC more susceptible to death wobble? Also, it says for 4" lifts. Does this mean it won't work with a 3"?

I have a RC track bar that came with a drop bracket and is double shear, no rod ends on either end. I think its only a $20 difference for the double shear and the regular adjustable. Only drawback to the RC bar is it is pencil thin. I haven't bent mine yet but when I do it will be replaced with something much larger than the little 1" bar.

I actually just spoke with them (Rough Country) about this exact same thing today and they said that it will fit the 3" lift which is what I have, their 3" series II lift. They did say it was thicker then the stock bar and that it comes with a moog joint as well. I was thinking about replacing the ball joint with a heim joint when it goes as well but, I don't see that happening in the near future since I don't beat on my vehicles.

I an not talking about ALL rough country track bars,, JUST the OEM style adjustable one, that uses a ball joint... it does not last long in lift situations..., NO ball joint track bar lasts long... they are still GREAT for mild/road use

I call baloney on the wear.

The RC bar I referenced works VERY well. As for the ball joint, it is fine for lifts up to 4.5" and on any rig no being wheeled to the limits, it is fine. You will never reach the ball joint limits with the lift you have. Also, the Moog joint RC uses has been on three different rigs I have touched. All have over 30,000 miles on the trackbar with virtually no wear on the ball joint.

The RC trackbar will be perfectly fine for you. Period.

I can tell you this... I am building a 4,5" 3 link, long arm setup... you can bet that a ball joint will not be in my Jeep...

Okay so the RC track bar will suit my needs? I'm looking for the best way to get the axle centered and have the least chance to have death wobble.

Not to jack this thread but, does it make a big difference if the front axle is off by 1/4"? I just measured mine the other day after my lift has been on for about 3 weeks now. I did just order the RC adjustable track bar with the moog joint on the end, after speaking with the guys at RC. They said it will work just find and is stronger then the stock one.
Of course may not be the best but, I would think it will be an improvement over my stock one since the joint is shot anyway.

Thanks for the help guys.

"The best" is a relative statement. Its probably just as good as any other one for your needs. Now if you are running 35s and beating it offroad every weekend, you would probably want some more beef but if thats the case, you'll have a TON more things to look into as well. The RC trackbar is a BIG improvement over the factory bar and gives you adjustability. For the price it can't be beat.
