Tow bar with after market front bumber
Im trying to setup my 99 Cherokee with the ability to flat tow it behind my RV. Im wondering if anyone has used the removable mounting tabs for the tow bar with an after market bumber and if so what problems did it present?
After more research it seems that the solution is to use the D shackle tabs to connect the tow bar while towing and then obviously connect D ring shackles while on the trail for pulling.
I should have added? does anyone else tow like this? Can anyone confirm this will work?

I'm getting ready to do this myself. Building my bumper this week and I'll mount it up for my shake down run this Saturday after all the winter projects.

Yeah it'd definitely be convenient to mount it to D ring brackets, but those are gonna have a 3/4 or 7/8" hole, the pin for the tow bar is much smaller than that. I wonder if you could make a sleeve or insert to take up that extra space. Just for example here's some tow bar brackets I made a few weeks ago. Pretty small hole for the pins

I'm not done with it yet, i still have some finnishing work to do.
Filler panel for core support, side plates which will be done this weekend and the correct bolts.
Not to mention D-rings.
I just figured i'd share this with the OP. This hitch is for a GM,Truck. My B-inlaw and i cut it to fit last weekend. I will go back later on and add Nates bumper plate mounts. But for now she is good and strong enough for street duty.

So from one extreme to the other, yes I have but never the between.
I am currently trying to figure out if it is worth A) hacking apart the towmaster that my dad has kept around (used on my mother's 92 XJ and then my dad's 00 Dakota) or should I just build a new tow bar with parts. Either way I'm mounting it to the D-ring tabs of my JCR bumper.
It looks like most people have fabricated their own. Unfortunately Im not able to do that.
Any off the shelf stuff?
It looks like Currie may make some thing to go with their bumper

Tow Master (I think, give me about 8 hours and I'll be at it's QTH and I can tell you the brand) makes them for factory bumpers, but the mounts mount to the frame and will work on aftermarket bumpers as well…just looks a little funky.
