If I'm swapping a motor from a manual to an automatic do I need to remove the pilot bearing or will it bolt up fine without interfering with the torque converter? Thanks.

If I remove it, nothing else needs to be pressed into it's place? I've tried researching this but there isn't a clear answer..

It need to come out.You do not need to put anything back in the hole.

You can use a grease gun & bolt method to remove the bearing.

Find a bolt just small enought to go into the pilot bearing.Fill hole with grease & pound the bolt till it bottoms out.Remove bolt & repeat untill the bearing comes out.

Takes about 4 tries or 2 minutes.
