Default TnT longarm install issue

Ok, so I went to install my used longarms from a friend, and all was going well until I went to hook up the upper short arms. First off I had to shorten the driver side upper about an inch and that involved a torch, pipewrench and a 6ft bar...a bit seized. Well after that fiasco the passenger side upper arm dropped right into place which I found odd...anyway I put the front end back together and now the front axle is WAY off center...the steering and trackbar are both disconnected...I don't under stand what is holding the axle to the drivers side. It doesn't seem like the upper arms matter besides to set the axles caster... Help!

Well without the trackbar the axle is free to move laterally about the Jeep. Just push it back into place then reconnect it.

in the past I have reconnected the steering, started the jeep and turned the wheel. without being connected to the axle the jeep will move back and forth a few inches. this was enough to reconnect the track bar

was it safe? hell if I know. don't drink and wrench

yeah having the axle hanging free and the frame rails on jack stands should actually make it easier. floor jack + steering wheel.. tactic
