Default Tire size question

Is there a huge difference between 305/70 R16 and 285/75 R16? Is the 285 that much shorter or is it just more narrow? Thanks

the 305= 32.8x12 and 8.4 section height

the 285= 32.8x11.2 and a 8.4 section height.

i'm sure different brands and model tires will vary though..

Same height at 32.8 inch.
305 is 3/4" wider at 12 inches.

Great info, thanks guys. The 285 is quite a bit cheaper, so it seems I wouldn't even notice a difference correct? I love the look of my 305's now but I can't imagine not liking the 285's based on 3/4" difference.
