tips for running 33s?

Default tips for running 33s?

I have a 4 inch lift and am almost done with all the cutting to put on my 33" bfgs. TIPS? i think for the speedo ill just use my GPS. what are things i should and shouldn't do differently than that stock sized wheels?

Air Pressures, you will need to find the best presure for the tires. Plan for Brake to be even worse than they are now. Jepp will be more sluggish and down shift more on hills and acceleration, unless you regeared. Turning radius will be reduced.

Hey matt I have 33 and they only rub on sharp turns . What all did you cut to get more clearence ? I dont wanna cut body onlt plastics just fyi

Not Matt. But you trim where it rubs. unless you are rubbing on the arms, in which case you need different arms or different backspacing on the wheels.

hey man, I have not put my 33s on yet, they are being mounted and balanced this weekend. as for cutting, so far i have done the front and only started the rear. for the front i cut out the fender basically where the top of the original fender was, so if your looking to only cut plastic im not sure this is going to help you. i will still let you know how it goes though!

I just put 33s on mine just over a month ago. We did some trimming and I was not rubbing, but when I took it off-roading I was rubbing like crazy. I only have a 3 inch lift right now. I am sure a 4 is better. Gonna add 2 more inches though.

As for an automatic and the shifting. My jeep struggles up hills and its a automatic. I still have stock gearing for the moment. Gas mileage is down. Make sure you get your Speedometer reset. Mine was off by about 10mph. I would be doing 45 according to the Speedometer, but my buddy in front of me had his cruis set at 55.

I have not reset my speedo yet. You could take it to a mechanic or buy a programmer for your computer. Which is what I am going to do just to have it.

I'm completely redoing my setup over the summer. Taking it to 4.5", lockers, gears, 33s.

How exactly does one figure out proper bump stops? Do you simply compress the suspension until the tires rub and then measure the distance between the frame and the axle (on the rear), add a little to that measurement and build a spacer of some kind that prevents movement at that point? Is there any good write ups or rules-of-thumb to observe?

The PO of my axles gave me some spring plates for the rear and hockey pucks for the front that he ran with his setup which was similar to what mine will be. So I'm hoping it'll be pretty close when I'm finished.

Also, my axles I picked up have 4.10s in them now. I was wanting to run 4.56s with my 33's but won't have the money for them right away. Will my 4.10s w/ 33s be similar to my current setup of 3.55s w/ 31's?

Sorry if I thread jacked but I thought this might be relevant.

That is exactly what you do. Add a little extra for the compression of rubber when you hit them hard.
