So my tires are worn and it's time for new ones. Problem is I know next to nothing about tires.
My current tires are Michelins that are 235/65 R16 (I have a 92 XJ but I have the wheels off a newer Jeep, 2000ish). I'm looking for something that does great off-road, but won't destroy my gas mileage on-road. I don't have a massive budget, so I'd like something cheapish.
Thanks!

go with the goodyear MTR kevlars they are just fine on road and offroad they are far superior to the duratracs the sidewalls on the MTR's is much much stonger and they dont wear down that fast at all, i have a set of 33x12.50 and they have been on my jeep for about a year and they are bareley worn with about 10,000 miles on them

I'll tout DuraTrac's all day! My first set lasted three years and ~48k. More alignments woulda helped a lot... On my second set now. Went with the 235's cause I pussed out on the 31's... Probably good in the long run for my wallet.. Still! They are basically the best AT tire I've found, for a multitude of reasons! Check tire rack for em, that's where I got both sets- cheapest and quick shipping. Here ya go.. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....TOWL&tab=Sizes

Top of the mountain. Made it up with two TJ's on 33's and like 6" lift! DuraTrac's man!

Edit- a 235/85 works out to a 31x9.50.. So in reality, it kinda does exist, but not in the metric world..
