Thrush Glasspack length
M wanting to get a thrush glass pack for my XJ but I'm not sure what length to get. Any suggestions? And does the length affect the sound and mpg?

Length effecting sound not really. Mpg your not gonna gain anything. IMO I would buy a chambered muffler. You will probably be happier in the long run. Glass packs when new are not that loud anyway. Blow the packing out they get noisy. A thrush welded, flowmaster 40 or super 44 is best bet. And a thrush can be picked up at local auto part stores in 2.25" center in offset out to bolt up to Cherokees. Need about 10" of pipe off the cat first then muffler

I'm wanting a nice loud exhaust that pops when you let off the throttle kinda like a 318 with the exhaust chopped off. Raised around it and I love it so should I go with a 24" so it's not extremely loud and still pops when throttle is let off of?

On an XJ Thrush glasspack sounds like a ricer fart car as my wife would say. The Thrush welded sounded better. I tried both. I ended up with a walker oem replacement.
To each their own, at least its easy to swap if you're using clamps.

try cutting off your muffler altogether. just chop it all right after the cat

IMO Thrush glasspacks are Junk and only last a year or so, I've ran Magnaflow Magnapacks on several of my vehicles and they dont pop or crackle, They sound nice and crisp with a deep note and do not drone . I have a video in the exhaust setup thread

yeah technically in CA you are always supposed to have an "adequate" muffler equipped. but I've passed inspection without one on and I've never been pulled over for breaking the decibel law.
it's not much louder than a flowmaster or magnaflow. the tone just isn't as nice. chop off muffler with a turn down = poor mans flowmaster. and there's nothing hanging there to smash on the rocks
anyway, glad to see the OP go with a quality piece. I hated my thrush welded
