Is there a difference in V-6 an V-8 explorer 8.8's?
I have access to a 1997 explorer 8.8 rear axle with 410 in it for $150. Will this work fine for my swap or is there a big difference in the V-8 ones? Will this one come with 31 spline axles and LSD? Thanks guys for advice

I've swapped in the 8.8 into my 87 Ranger, and am also swapping in a 5.0L. I looked at all my notes with gear ratios and widths and pizza toppings and have NOT found a difference between a V6 8.8 and a V8 8.8.

The v8 one had mostly 3.73 gear with a lsd the v6 ones can be 3.55 3.73 or 4.10 and is rare to find a lsd in a v6 one.And yes its 31 spline to tell if its lsd or not look at the axle tag on it.If it says the gear ratio with L in the middle its lsd.
