What's wrong with it now? Its such a vague question that its impossible to say one way or another. Is it turning over abnormally slow? Or do you just want it to start in less than a second for some other reason? I had problems with mine not catching when I tunes then engine over. It ended up being the fuel pump or the ball check valve causing fuel pressure to back bleed. Try cycling your ignition a few times before turning it over. Also check that your battery is fully charged and is able to stay charged.

On my 1996 XJ I did not have a starting issue. However, after replacing the injectors with upgraded, I noticed a difference. It starts almost instantly.

My 98 was slow to start. I put in a new optima red top battery, brand new starter, and new cables. None of that made a significant difference. Then I did a coolant flush and found out that my heater hoses were approx 80% clogged with sludge. After getting my coolant system straightened out it now fires up much quicker. Just something you might wanna check
