Looking to do the 1-2 gear switch mod, can someone explain why the following method will not work for me? Obviously it disables 2nd because I cut the solenoid wire, but can not get 2nd to return with the flip of the switch. Rather than both ends of the purple wires going to the switch, do I need a hot source in place of that me end of the purple wire on the switch?

 

Search aw4 push button shifter. The info you seek is here. I shift mine with two rocker switches and a toggle for the torque converter lock. Works great I have no problems. My system, I do all the shifting there is no automatic function. Tcu is unplugged. Not a difficult mod my friend. R

 

Thanks for the reply. I found several different write ups on this, but wanted to stay away from using multiple switches if possible and found the image I originally posted.
I was under the impression if I just used a simple switch to the hot yellow wire to on/off the tcm , there would be delay between the 1-2 switch due to the computer allowing the tcm to reboot.
I guess what I’m asking, is this mod possible without entirely disabling the tcm?

Thanks guys found a thread on naxja, used a 3 way switch tcu on bottom, tcu off middle, 2nd gear top.
