Default T-Top XJ

Im chopping up the XJ soon and building a cage so I figured while Im at it I would add some T-Tops over the front seats. Any suggestions on how to do this and make it seal correctly when the doors and tops are on? Im thinking some sort of latching system and weather seals will be needed but not 100% sure how to do it.

If you are going for the open roof but want to cover it sometimes effect why not have a soft top made for it and chop the roof out while leaving the a and b pillars for your doors?

The more expensive option is a universal sliding rag top like - http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/201...tops-Sunroofs/

I dont like the look of the soft top on a XJ. Besides I would have to do more reinforcing then I can afford right now. Iv always had a plan to chop up a SUV into a pickup with t-tops. This is probably the biggest reason I really want t-tops over a soft top.

I have found that the installers of boat tops and bimini tops are the guys to talk to. You are in a good area for that.

You're going to need to do about 8 times more reinforcing with "T-tops" than you would with a soft top.

T-tops would require that you chop out the door frame where a soft top requires you to cut a rectangle hole in some sheet metal.

Gotcha. Well Ill just save t-tops for later down the road then. But any and all info would be great

Planning on it. When I do I will do a build thread for it. Thinking of using 2x4 steel tied into a interior cage using a similar set up to the 80s model t top camaros
