Default SYE with stock shaft?

I only have a 2" BB on right now and have to wait til I graduate this may and the fire season starts to go bigger. I would like to get the sye done first if possible because I'll be doing the lift at our station and its 75 miles from the nearest mechanic. I don't trust myself to open up the t-case by myself so the sye will be the only thing done professionally. I'd like to have the sye installed before I put the lift on so is it possible to have an sye installed with the stock driveshaft in and driven daily for a couple months? anyone know the cost for a mechanic to put one on? I'm most likely gonna go the Advanced Adapters way. Anything better than that? Thanks for any info.

You will need a new drive shaft to run a SYE. You will be eliminating the slip yoke required to allow your driveline to adjust to your rear diff moving up and down. This being said, a driveline with the slip yoke built in to it is required. HTH.

The rear stock shaft will deffinately not work. If your talking about using a front shaft. I think it will be too long since your only at 2inch BB lift. You might want to look into using a super short SYE that hugs the tcase a lot more. You can probably get away with using the front stock shaft with the supershort SYE. But when you lift your driveshaft may be too short then.

i would buy the SYE kit now since your desiring it but wait until you have your lift where you want it and then install the SYE kit... x2 on the super short kit also

alright thanks guys. that just leaves me having to drive 75 miles with the vibes or maybe in FWD if i take the rear shaft off. maybe i can find someone to help me install the sye up at work. i got time to figure things out.

stock front shaft would be fine. even at stock ride height. It doesnt pull the shaft out that much. I think the stock front slip yoke is like 4-5" travel. Even with a short sye, I think it woul dbe too short. at 4.5" my rear shaft is 2" longer than a stock front.
Anyway, short of using a stock front shaft, which is a cheap, viable option. You will have to wait until you get the correct shaft for it.
