Default Which SYE Kit to get?

So everyone and their brother sells an SYE kit. Theres SYE kits, HD Kits, Short HD, Super Short, Mega Short, and the list goes on. Someone clarify the differences between these kits and what manufacturer I should look towards.

Thanks

Jon

The shortness is the length of the output shaft. And HD is just heavy duty. The output shaft will usually be harder than normal. If you just buy the normal length non HD version of any brand, itll live the life of your jeep without any problem.

A Mega Short kit is not needed on an XJ.

H&T kits are a low buck solution.

Short shaft kits are fairly easy to install, depending on mechanical aptitude of course.

Thanks for the responses. The Serious Offroad only run 180, so I might go with that. Iron Rock has the "HD" version for 199 though.

One thing I noticed while looking around, some kits include a speed senor? And from a glance the two Ive mentioned dont include one nor mention anything of a sensor? Can anyone shed some light onto this?

True SYE replaces tcase output shaft and the tailshaft housing. With a hack and tap (HNT) you cut your stock tailshaft off, drill a hole and bolt an adaptor plate on so you can bolt a cv driveshaft on. People say a HNT isn't as strong and may not balance properly.

Im in the market for a SYE too.

Yea I looked into HNT though the price difference is appealing, I feel like when it comes to main components(ie the driveline) its best to not cheap out and just do it properly the first time.

Anyone have anything on my "speedsenor" question?

The only time you need to worry about an new sensor is if ou are ordering a mega-Short kit...which you don't need.

A H&T is true SYE. It is simply an alternative to a short shaft kit.
