Default SYE/DS lengths

Running a 2000 xj np231 with 6.5" lift and no sye. Bought it this way with no sye and now want to reduce the vibes/noise. Ive seen some threads with comments saying that a front driveshaft from another xj will be long enough and some say they are too short, just curious what sizes id be looking for (preferably trying to not buy a custom ds for triple the price, would rather go to a junkyard or fb marketplace). Thanks.

XJ front shaft too far stretched? - Jeep Cherokee Forum Look at "tech's" reply here
You will still need to measure your distance from output yoke after you do SYE, to the input yoke of your rear axle

Sure, I've seen this list before as well, I'm just not very experienced in this area. I mostly just don't know which specific collapsed length i would need, i have a junkyard nearby with many choices of driveshafts to choose from. Are you saying that if i measured output yoke from the sye side to the rear axle that would give me the correct collapsed length?

You will need to install your slip yoke eliminator kit first. Then measure the distance between the yokes. When using a junkyard driveshaft no length is going to be perfectly correct, but once you get the number you subtract an inch to two inches depending on lift and up travel.
Let's say you measure 32 inches. Look at the list and see that you can use the front shaft from: XJ 89/01 4.0 Automatic
You can use your current front drive shaft to talke you to the JY regardless of your measurements because you shouldnt compress/droop suspension

Most drive shafts use slip stubs which means that they have the ability to adjust up to a few inched. Here is a website for education.

Just in case the front driveshaft doesn't work, Adam's Driveshafts, Oliver's Driveshafts, and Tom Woods are 3 of the more well known brands. I have Olivers and it is well built.
