Anybody know of a cheaper drive shaft or company that modifies them to run with an sye kit.... looking for something around 180 bucks.

Try a ZJ or XJ front shaft. should be able to find for $100 new and much less if from a junkyard.

The front shafts from the 4.0 Automatics are longer, make sure you get one of those rather than one from a manual. Depending on the year and whatnot there could be up to a 5 inch difference in the length.

So if I get a front shaft from an xj or zj with an automatic 4.0 ... it will bolt right up to my sye kit.

Here's a list of XJ ad ZJ front drive shafts. Second column is model year, third and fourth drivetrain options, fifth collapsed length (may be running length, can't quite recall) and last is OE part number.

Just like a custom shaft you need to do your lift first, measure between the new SYE yoke and axle pinion yoke, then go grab one from a junkyard that fits.

Don't forget to toss some new U joints and centering ball in.
