Swapping in 8.25, Help....
1989 Cherokee, 5 speed, 4.5 inch lift. I just got the axle under the jeep and all bolted up and of course my driveline isn't going to work. So what's the best thing to do?
The local salvage yard has a driveline of a 98 with a 8.25 and automatic transmission. Would that work even though I have a manual? Isn't the manual transmission longer?
I have heard you can get driveshafts shortened. Would that be a better option?
My last resort is getting a Sye, and new CV driveline. I mean obviously If that's what it's going to come down to I don't really have a choice. But money is tight and if I can get by for now without it that would be ideal. I didn't have any driveline vibes before.
Anyway any help would be very much appreciated. I need my jeep to get to and from work, and right now having to find rides to and from work is challenging. Thanks!

I have a 5 speed with a 8.25 I swapped in. I kept blowing u-joints so I just did a hack n tap and got a front driveshaft from a grand cherokee and put it in the rear for my cv shaft. Manual trannies are actually shorter then auto trannies which is why we need longer drive shafts and why we can not use our front shafts in the rear like all the guys with the aw4's. You are going to need a hack n tap, and a custom shaft. The front shaft from the GC I am using works on the road but will not work when flexing or anything. Its barely long enough, but better then paying 300 for a tom woods in my current situation..

2wd driveshaft would be a slip yoke. I suppose you could switch a double carden joint on it but that seems like more work then getting a front shaft from a gc
