Default Suspension Questions 92 Briarwood

Hey Errbody,

I just put some new wheels on the briarwood and they rub in the back when I go over a bump. I know I need some new shocks but I'm not really too sure on the best brand/ type that will guarantee me clearance without getting a lift. The tires are only 235's and I took them off my 97 cherokee with stock suspension and they fit just fine.

Thanks!

Old wheels

New wheels!

Shocks wont lift the rear any and will not fix your rubbing. Your leaf springs seem to be saggy and you will need to lift the back about an inch or so to compensate. You could get a new leaf pack or get some 1.5" lift shackles, or (the not reccomended route) just get some blocks for under the leafs (but this will eventually cause the leafs to sag more). Hope this helps

Your leafs are gone. New leafs is the only way to fix it right.

Surprised to see a suggestion for blocks over shackles.. Idk, I'd vote for a BB over block.. But new leaf springs (oem, probably a med weight, unless you prefer a super stiff/soft set up..) and if your up for it a one or two inch BB. But new leafs will completely solve sag.

... Oops... My bad, no one has said a thing toward the sound of blocks being better than shackles... Idk if it's the small screen (iPod touch) or what... sorry for that :P

hit up the junk yard and get some decent used rear springs for around $30-$60
