It's not really the head, its more the intake manifold design that's different. Just very minor changes were made to the head like a little different port shape for example.

The intake and exhaust ports were something like 1/8 or 1/4" higher in the head to make for a more gradual transition through the valve. They also used different duration cams.

Camshaft isn't part of the head unless its an OHC. Lol.

No. But I would consider it part of the head upgrade. The camshaft was redisigned to work better with the modified ports. The head also used different valve springs to work with the camshaft. It all ties together.

Last question if I use a
1988 258 crankshaft that a serpentine belt on it do I still need to trim snout it has a 2 inch snout

You don't have to trim any of the snouts. If it is too long, just make a 1/4" spacer by cutting it off of an extra harmonic balancer.
