Default straitpipe, backpressure info help

sawed my muffler off so as of right now its just strait cat. my question. what are some issues that come with the change of backpressure notw that theres no muffler? and does not having a muffler effect anything besides obvious noise?? im planning to weld strait pipe to tailpipe so fumes wont get in cab when idling..any helps apper-see-ated

Less back pressure will amount to less torque. Usually vehicles run like crap with no muffler but with the cat it may hold some back pressure still. Your not going to hurt a straight 6 either way

Just run it better mpgs more noise and less back pressure. You wont really notice the loss in torque tho

Didn't make any difference on mine other than the noise. Ran it straight piped for about 6 months after ripping the muffler off on some rocks for the third time, finally got tired of the noise and welded the muffler back on.

Just bust a hole in it and put a piece of pipe in it but yes I have done that on a 91 camanchee sounded butter straight piped with no cat imo.

On an injected model you will not notice any power loss. Computer does the job for you.

Don't turn it off unless you're avoiding hydrolocking and you won't have that problem.

true, just wondering cause once i got stuck in water and when i finally got out (still had motor running, i would rev it up and water would spurt out a bit from cat and muffler. so any water in the cat as long as teh motors running wont damage or effect anything?

Considering how hot cats are the water would boil off IF it made it that far.

No you will be fine. Cats do eventually go bad. And maybe water would speed up the process slightly. But nothing that would keep me out of water!! LOL
