Default stock speakers to sound system speakers.

pretty much as above. the only concern i have is the wiring. is there a positive and a negative? wire or does it not matter? let me know if you need pictures. the wires are alot different than stock which is confusing me a little bit.

Wat?

It doesn't really matter which is + and which is - as long as all the speakers are wired up in the same manner.

Look at the stock speakers, there is an A and B. When I replaced mine this weekend I made all of the a's positive and b's negative and it sounds great

you might just want to run new wire... its kind of a pain but if yours is like mine, the old stock wires were hard and cracking and just needed replacing... new speaker wire is cheap

Short answer: If all you want is sound, it doesn't matter at all, but a good rule of thumb is to make sure that all speakers are wired the same.

Long answer: Polarity does matter. It determines which way the speaker moves when an electrical signal is received. If you swap the positive and negative on a speaker, that speaker is now 180 degrees out of phase. In some cases it may be desirable to have a speaker or several speakers out of phase with the others. This is a poor man's time-alignment. It makes it so that the sound coming from each side reaches your ear at the same (or closer to the same) time resulting in a better stereo image.

Typically if I am installing a simple deck and 4 speakers I will first hook up all of the speakers in phase. Then I will systematically switch each speaker out of phase and listen. If it sounds better out of phase I will leave it that way.
