So I'm in the middle of installing new door speakers and noticed when taking the old ones out there is like a half foam baffle behind them. I'm assuming that’s what these are meant to be? Should I replace these with full fitted baffles?

Also, does anyone know what gauge the door speaker wire is (16?) I need to extend it a little to fit the connection on the new speakers. To do this, can I loosen the boot and pull any excess wire out, or should I just solder an extension?

Thanks!

On my 2000 they are 18Ga. You can fish wires through the boot.

To solder an extension from the OEM speaker wires would any regular speaker wire work of the right gauge? Something like this:

Yeah when my front speaker wires were shot I had to put speaker wire to reconnect them. So as long as its the right gauge and everything you should be fine.
