Default stock carrier removal

trying to get the stock carrier out of the D44 rear axle i got, what is the best way to get it out with out removing the spider gears?

Once you have the mains out, get a crow bar and pry it out. Shouldn't hurt the carrier or spiders. That's how I got mine out.

the prybar isnt working no matter what angle we pry at, i read in my factory service manual that the housing has to be spread, do i have to do that to get it out?

Hook a strap to your rear bumper or tow hook,run it down into the housing around the carrier and hook it to another car or pole or something. Tension the strap then step stomp on it,works every time.

well its inside right now in about a 3ftx5ft space so that wouldnt work right now, plus its snowin out side, dont want nothin to rust

Get a heavy duty cloth shop rag that you don't mind messing up, and feed it down in between the ring and pinion. As they mesh and start to eat the cloth it will push the carrier up. I usually fold it over on it self 3 or 4 times so it's thicker and feed it down there
