are there 2 small bolts sticking out the rear of the bracket the LCA rear bushing mounts in ?

To adjust, you loosen those bolts, move the axle forward and put in shims between the inside of the bracket and the 'shoe' the bolts are part of, then tighten it back up.

The following link shows how to do a driveway alignment (jeep must be on level ground for proper readings). Also details the factory adjuster shims.

I may be wrong but I thought if you had a drop pitman arm you had to change where the track arm bolts up to the frame so the angle for the steering and the track bar would be the same .

This moves axle centering under xj only.

Track bar centers axle side to side.....yes

but you do need the angles to be the same too or you will have bumpsteer due to the rate of change of the arc they swing in being different.

Kinda like putting a ladder bar on a leaf spring rear axle......the ladder bar swings in a true circular arc, but the leaf spring swings in an elliptical arc, and at some point, they conflict and you have problems.

Thanks, don't know how well this will work as i don't have level ground, might have to use the neighbors garage again.

I do still have the two little bolts on the frame LCA mounts. Noticed on my ride to the store today that I had a clunk coming from the front in when I hit my first bump; I have been noticing a clunk for some time now only when I just bumps and somethings when I turn sharp in a parking lot and it feels like the axle is in 4WD,

Brand new bar bushings, I replaced those just for the fun of it incase that was an issue. My end links however have seen better days.

What about shock bushings ? I also had a clunk on my 88 when the lower front shock bushing gave out....it was letting the shock eye hit the mount

Maybe I missed something but did you replace your tie rod ends? Any play in those can cause wobbles. Like they said above climb under the front end and have someone move the wheel back and forth and check for slop at the pitman arm, drag link and both sides of the tie rod.

I went for the alignment yesterday in hope that I'd find out what my caster is at but the print out I was shown only displayed camber and toe both of which are in the green according to the machine. I'm really at a loss if I can't find a starting point, is there a trick to do with a torpedo level for at home alignments?

Don't know if there's anything here you haven't tried, but might be worth taking a look at...
