Question Stiffener Welding Question:

Ok so i have a set of Ruff Stuff Stiffenerz that i'll be installing shortly. They have a 1" lip at the top that expands out to the metal floarboards for added strength & welding surface. My question is, would it be a smart bet to take the seats & carpeting out so it dont catch on fire, or is this an unessessary thing to do??

x2^^

after welding in the stiffeners...the weld to the floor board will "burn" the paint/sealant on the top side...after welding be sure to reseal this up(paint/sealant) to prevent premature corrosion.
