If your planning on fullwidthing It would be a great axle you wouldn't have to worry about breaking. What year axle is it and what did it come out of ? On the superdutys the lug pattern was 8x6.5 then they changed them to 8x170mm so that's something to look at if your not wanting different lug pattern per axle. To fullwidth the front you want a yearly ford dana 44 or just about any ford dana 60 but your talking some cash there. The Chevy axles are pass side drop and you would have to swap transfer case to make that work so it would be tons more work. Newer Dodge front axles would work but they have a unit bearing like your Cherokee has now which would work but If I was doing it I would want selectable hubs.

If you don't want to swap the front you could always do the ford 8.8 31 spline swap they are dirt cheap and there is little fab to install them. Oh and you get disk brakes to if you grab the correct year.

Is a sterling 10.25 larger than a corp. 14 bolt? And would the 14 bolt be a better swap into my jeep? Full float corp. 14 bolt from a 1990 3/4 ton suburban.
Well I didnt know much about the Sterling 10.25 until I just did some research.
Now I have to ask the OP if the axle is a full float or a semi-float..
I also have to ask what is the final gear ratio you plan on running?
According to the book I have (5 yrs old now) the deepest ratio is 4.30
Now for some tech talk
Axle shaft
10.25 14ff
1.5/35 splines 1.5/30
minimum shaft
1.36 1.34
SO if bolt pattern and gear ratio choice is not an issue the 10.25FF is just as strong/ shafts stronger , ring gear weaker then a 14FF
The strength of the 14b comes from the fact thatr both ends of the pinon are supported. ALso you can go to 5.13's in gear ratio.

... Just other thoughts if you dont want to spend a crap load of money for an axle
