Default steering upgrade

i been thinking about getting JCR offroad 1-ton steering for my cherokee..

over the knuckle or under the knuckle?

i know the difference but is there one better than the other or are they basically the same thing

can i do this in my garage just looked at the install only think that worries me is reaming the knuckles.. maybe take the knuckles off to a local shop to have it done? to be safe or

I spent the $25 and bought the tapered inserts. I only had to drill a regular, straight thru hole and it was fine for me.

As for otk vs utk, thats on you. Otk may be more work for you because you gotta rework the trac bar angle to match the drag link.

From there the other benefit of otk is having the steering stuff up and out of the way of obstacles .

I did the insert on mine just so I didn't have to worry about messing it up.my pitman arm was the hardest thing to drill out.

Depends on what I can find and have the cash for, to be honest. lol I really haven't done many mods that I haven't found used/really cheap.

Dream would be a 44 or something wider that stock by a few inches, but I've got a hp30 I'm farting around with and already have a 44 rear, so wider would obviously force me to get both front and rear. Anyway, I know its "just a 30" but it'll go nicely under my wife's tj that will never get wheeled hard, so I'm ok putting some cash into it. Not necessarily all out crazy, but just lazily building it with free time when I'm bored.

There are things you can do to prevent that.

There was a bit of a dead spot. But then I reamed the knuckle to the optimal point and it's virtually gone

No, you are greatly mistaken.

They are not a band-aide in any way, shape or form. They are mandatory when running a 1 ton steering kit....regardless of the brand.

Yea, and still a band aid. Inverted T sucks. The tie rod will always roll. It works for some people but I never liked it even at a modest 3.5" lift. The spacers are a wear item, I went through a pair every 8-10 months.
