Default steering shaft question

I am getting the steering box worked on by PSC Motorsports and while I was in the shop one of the techs mentions that I should also look into replacing the steering shaft. That on the older Jeeps the steering shafts are made out of composite and are subjective to flexing under load. Any thoughts on this? I put a magnet on the OEM steering shaft and seems to be metal to me. The closer to the firewall the more it seems it has some sort of coating on it.

So far this is the only steering shaft that I was able to find. Any other options that are less pricey ?

I haven't heard of this issue, there isn't a large amount of load on your steering shaft unless your power steering goes out or you are running huge tires, and at that point you should go with a hydro assist setup which would put even less stress on the steering shaft.

I had time to install the Steering box and got an alignment done yesterday. The play on the steering box is so much better. But I was expecting all play to be non exsistent. My tie rod ends and all the componets for steering/ball joints were updated in late 2014 but they don't have a lot of miles. Maybe 20K max.

I haven't driven an XJ yet that I would say has tight steering. Especially something with oversize tires. I would have someone move the wheel back and forth while you are looking at each joint and rod for play. 20K miles could be enough to loosen up some steering parts depending on the quality of the parts used.
