Default steering question...

Ok so I have stock d30 front on a 88 xj 4x4... and went to drive today and had been noticing some snapping noises the previous day while turning... anyway went to turn outta my driveway and the wheel turned but the wheels didn't lol. The piece that come off the pitman arm and goes into the drag link is out and no longer connected. My question is... what's that piece called? And what do I need to do to fix it?? Id upload a pic but wont let me for some reason... any help is much appriciated.

He's talking about the tirerod end. That sleeve wouldn't go anywhere. Here's the part number from rockauto if you want that part... MOOG Part # ES3096L
I put the MOOG one because I know they make good ends.

I think it is the tie rod end... its the part from the pitman arm that goes into the sleeve. Now what all do I need to do to fix it?

You need a new tie rod end and some wrenches and probably a pickle fork or ball joint separator if it's wedged in there real well.

you got a hammer?
just hit the pitman arm at the round end. strike it against the edge. the tre should just pop out.

you may have to turn the wheels to get a good enough swing on it.
