Default Steering

I have a 98 XJ and ever since I put my 3 inch lift on it, I have been having issues with my steering. Everything on the front end is brand new, I have been through 4 steering gear boxes. The steering wheel will not stay aligned straight and it has some slack in it, when driving down the road when it will go to the left or right and when you try to get straight it will pull hard to the way your turning and im guessing its probably because the slack in the wheel. the alignment is good on it, anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to fix the steering wheel ? Thanks

As in you did a 3" lift and you have been through 4 steering boxes since the install?

Pictures of your lift setup and unibody condition around the steering box and track bar mount would be nice

I agree, pics are a must on this. Be sure to show your full drag link and tie rod. As far as the steering box goes, It may only need an adjustment

Did you completely drain the power steering system each time you replaced the steering box? Tainted steering fluid can be very problematic on newer steering systems. Basically setting yourself up for failure with old fluid and new components

Why did each of the steering boxes need replacing?

You you still have the stock anti-sway bar and links?

if everything on the front end is new and you had a professional alignment, this absolutely should not be happening. But that is assuming everything was done correctly and all new parts are good quality and are compatible.

It shouldn't be happening even if the front end didn't meet all those criteria. Mind certainly doesn't & I've only replaced the steering box once, in 2019, I think, because (a) it was leaking, badly & (b) I had a spare.

Possible problems.

Profesional shop

Frame cracked around steering box

Track bar bolt hole ovaled out.

Humans ****ed it all up

Id also not discount any of the new parts as possible cause.

Faulty parts.

Faulty install.

Aligment shop ****ed up.

Jeeps have human problems.
