Hi All -
I've put a 4.5" lift and 32" ish tires on and now I'm looking for a small assistance step to get into/out off the jeep for my dog, my girlfriend, and myself. I'm most likely going to get the Smittybilt XRC rear bumper with tire carrier, would the XRC rock sliders work for a side step as well as rock sliders for my jeep? Or are they too close to the jeep body and not far enough down to be worth being a "step"?
I'm trying to go with a real clean consistent look for my XJ, I'm going to add on KC HiLite Lzr Light bars and like the look of rectangle powder coated rock sliders, but not sure it they will work double duty. Do you know of any other manufacturer of rock sliders that work as steps as well? I have a company that can powder coat (actually they will Lixen Body Armor spray) if needed.
Thanks!

Yeah, the sliders wouldn't do much as a step just because of their proximity to the body. You could easily bolt/weld a step if you needed to but you are going to lose clearance and its just another thing for rocks to get caught on when on the trail. An alternative I have seen is people getting heavier duty handles (made of paracord sometimes) and mounting them on the inner roof so you can pull yourself up rather than step. (I guess that wont do much for your dog though lol).

One of my friends has a small stainless steel stool that doctors use he sets on ground his wife gets in they pull it up with a rope thats tied to stool and the place it behind front seat on floor board. Cheap, effective and no ground clearence loss.

Hi Burg -
Thanks for the response! I was surfing the web and found Warrior Products has a rock slider that might meet my needs:
http://www.warriorproducts.com/catal...eps/rock-bars/
I'd most likely get the black diamond plate steps option (as I feel diamond plate is a little dated - makes me think late 90s early 2000's), so the diamond plate is as unnoticeable as possible but still provides good traction for when snow/dirt are covering the steps.
Also, I'll probably add handles like you suggest, but you are correct my dog won't benefit from those and he is my co-pilot most of the time so I'd still need to find a way to accommodate him! He loves the bumpy rides though, he's pretty BadA** - half Rottweiler and half Chihuahua - basically he is a mini rottie! He needs a good step in!
