Default Spotlight on roof?

Thinking about ordering a low profile spotlights for the roof of my xj. You know the remote control. Ones?

I was thinking about mounting in the front of the rack but i don't wanna order it if it's just gonna look like crap! Does anyone have pictures or inputs?

I would use the mounting tabs or build some for your rack, main reason one less place for water to enter.

About all the lights anymore are remote controlled so no handle on the end of a spotlight to fool with like the old ones.

Have you considered using several lights mounted on your rack? I have several on mine they are all Hellas 2 front, (2 on side toward the front at angle not shown in photos) and 2 in the rear for backup/work lights.

They are controlled with the pillar mount gauge pod with the switch's in them, the extra side lights were added later to the pods. Just an idea to consider for lighting as you know how electrical motor's can fail.

damn dude thats a bad *** rig! light up the night! i mean i was gonna get hellas or kcs and mount for on front of the rack and 2 in the rear! but on the other hand i thought a spot light would come in handy aswell if i wanted to search around in the night or if i had a fixed position where the lights can reach. and i thought about the water thing so i was gonna go with a magnetic light

I have lights on the Jeep but for spotlight I use a handheld one that I plug into the cigarette lighter plug.

How does the LED Cree compare to the Hid Xenon

Doesn't sound like a bad idea ... If the case, lens and lamp don't easily break.

You would have a combination search light, backup light and camp light that can be aimed. Where stationary lights mostly work in only one direction.

A true hid will have more light then a led but the led uses less power and should last longer.Only time i can see using a hid is high speed desert racing where you need to see far away.If your talking about headlights i would skip the hids its not cheap to do it right and some states its illegal to add them to anything that didn't have them factory.Off road lights leds are great but get pricey for good ones. The more budget lights will be hella or kc lights. But either way placement and type if beam pattern does matter.

I have one also that my wife bought me for my birthday for my boat a really nice one like 2+ million candle power......never used it in the boat so far only the jeep lol.

The 2 lights not shown mounted on the side of my rack in the front angled to side/front light up everything to the rear doors of the XJ. The rear mounted backup/work lights are wide angle driving lights. Coverage wise I'm good for about 360 deg. and all for less than a single 50-60" LED Bar that's only good for one direction.

Just go with a FLIR camera up there and a monitor inside. See everything.
