Default Spline count.

I swapped my stock 97' Chreokee Dana 35 rear axle out for a Chry 8.25 , it came off a 88' Cherokee , is there a way to tell what the spline count is without taking the cover off or pulling a axle?

There wasn't a 8.25 in an 88. If you mean a 98... It's a 29 spline

It was a donor jeep , but definatly wasn't a 98' it was the older body style , crap maybe that one had a axle swap. He might have mentioned it came off a Comanche originally , did they have a 8.25? But it is definitely a 8.25. Now what do I do?

Ok well I called my buddy that hooked me up with the axle from his friend and the Jeep was a 88' so someone had swapped that into that Jeep , I guess the only way is to pull the diff cover and count the splines...right?

Are you sure it's an 8.25?

Ok that is an 8.25. Not out of an 88 though.

MJ's didn't come with them either. There isn't a way to check with out pullin the cover and counting unless you figure out if it's pre 96 or 97+
