I just got a 1990 Cherokee that had a 2wd 4x4 conversion and thats why i think its not working it all looked hooked up any ideas

 

With the 2wd it used a gear in the transmission and with 4wd it's in the t-case. I'd check the tail shaft of the t-case and see if anything is hooked up. You also have to clock the gear, different tooth counts to adjust for gears and tires, so it may not be making contact.
