So, you're believing in a dyno report on a product from the products maker? Smart. Yeah, I'm sure the did gain 8hp. In a controlled environment on a properly tuned engine. If they even dyno'd a 4.0 at all. Do you really think they dyno every single vehicle they make an air filter for? I bet the math nerda just calculate the numbers, print out a false dyno, claim an 8hp increase, then steal your money and laugh.

However, a CAI will give you more power.. Not sure if its as much as 8 hp, but its some.

So arguing about that 8hp is dumb and buying the intake for more power is dumb. The spectre at least moves the intake up so it is more difficult to hydrolock.

Ditto... it was just way louder than I wanted. Sounds like flipping the switch on a shop-vac in the passenger side floor every time you start the ignition... or at least my '01 XJ did. I've had loud sports cars most of my life, but this was just loud AND annoying to me. I pulled it off, capped the hole and reinstalled the OE air box. Sold the Spectre to another Jeeper. He's happy, I'm happy...
I have one on my 97, it is really loud inside. Also you cannot run this with a tb spacer with this intake, even with the tube chopped down. No mention of that in the instructions. I learned this the hard way as my hood is F'd from this product. Not happy with the product or product support.

How are they supposed to know you're running a TB spacer?

id like to get one of theses sometime in the future, but i have a few questions about it.
1- will it work with a bored tb?
2- wont that breather hose throw oil directly into your tb?
3- anyone running this setup with stock exhaust want to post a video so we know what kind of noise were dealing with?
-thanks

Breather hose shouldnt throw oil into the TB. I cant answer that for sure, as i have lots of blow by.... However the blow by wasnt effected in any way by my CAI, which is set up in a very similar way.
Noise shouldnt be all that bad. If you have road tires or a really quiet jeep it may be a little irriating. It wasnt all that bad on mine, and my filter was right in front of the hvac..

You can always spray some sound deadener in the cowl
But I'm telling you it sounds BA. It's kind of addictive and sounds like straight performance
You either love it or hate it. Cherokees aren't quiet anyway I can't even have a conversation while I'm on the freeway without yelling (early model xj)

I'd rather hear that 'noise' and performance sound coming f/a nice exhaust system... not f/the 'shop-vac' mounted to my floorboard.

Not sure if you can hear this as my iPhone didn't pick up the sound that great, but you'll hear that sucking noise at startup... and it's more subdued in the vid than in real life

It is a pretty common mod on these, you would figure that they would at least make mention of it in the instructions. Yes, I did call them all they could offer was a refund on the intake if I sent it back to them. This was after I already had a hole chopped in my firewall and a dented hood. The system fit with the hood closed, but it was so tight when the engine torqued under load it smashed the elbow into the hood so hard that even the paint came off the topside.
