I know this has been beat to death but its almost time for me to lock my front axle and ive narrowed it down to theses two lockers. I have a stock Dana 30 and ill be running 31's for now. I'd really like some opinions from ppl with actual experience with these!

The powertrax has a bunch of springs that make the "clunk" less noticeable and they have a syncro ring to shut up the clicking around corners. I never had a spartan but did have a lockrite which is more or less identical to the spartan and I broke it twice before junking it. No complaints with the powertrax no slip. Edit: lockrites suck a$$.

I've run both, Spartan is physically larger and has bigger pins and springs. The lockright I ran broke on the second trip out and the ones I had in my old Yota would unlock on side hills and the springs wore out in less than a year. I love my Spartan and will NEVER spend a dime on another lockright.

The pins are bigger but partly because the springs are inside of them. Spartan is way easier to put in also....well ok maybe not way easier but more enjoyable if that makes sense.

i don't understand the complaining about the "clicking" noise. i have a aussie in my jeep and i literally have to turn off the radio and stick my head out the window to hear the locker very faintly. i went with aussie and would do it again, i would also not hesitate to run a spartan in my rig as well.

yeah after i put it in originally, i spun the tire and you can hear it from the axle itself. but from inside the jeep under normal driving i don't hear it at all. front axle might be a little louder since its closer, i haven't decided what i'm putting in the front yet. keep going back and forth between a aussie and a ox.
Spartan love mine, I've had lockright before don't like them. Spartans simple and strong. I'm running 33" with no problem on or off the road. Don't even know its there until I need it. Very quite and smooth operation.
