Question Spacing. Is it actually safe?

I have a 3in lift on my 2000 Cherokee with 31x10.5x15 with 8inch wide Pro comp steelies with 3.75 inch backspacing. I'm looking for a nice meaner wide look, but can putting spacers with steelies be dangerous? Please help me out everyone is telling me different sides of the situation. Thanks.

Cheap Spacers are dangerous

Any spacer adds stress on unit bearings, ball joints, etc.

People run them all the time, just invest in a good brand and not go for the cheapest price, and expect a little more wear and tear.

I want to do it for the look and performe aspect, like taking on exit ramps without wondering if my jeep is gonna do a kick flip. I am willing to spend money on quality spacers but is this something that will weaken over time and should be replaced? What do you think?

But the money you spend on good spacers you can buy rims with the back spacing you want.

That's what terrifies me, I've seen that happen too which is why I'm second guessing myself on spacing more. I

Something else if you push your wheels out more they will kick up more rocks and mud all over your jeep. And some states have fender laws you might want to check that also.

Default Spacing. Is it actually safe?

I run 1.25" G2 spacers. They are solid and as long as you check the bolt torque at every rotation they are perfectly fine. Most I have heard of failing are either extremely low quality or the bolt torque is never checked.

Since you are already at 3.75 backspacing however I would never reccomend going any farther out.

With the backspacing you have, you don't need them.

That being said, a set of quality spacers, when installed properly and checked frequently are safe.

Yeah, you could run spacers but I wouldn't go any wider than those wheels already are.

To get the wide look you could remove your flares and cut your fenders, but then those brand new tires would look small.

This is 33x12.5s on 10" wide wheels.

Spacers aren't the worst idea in the world, but I wouldn't run them. Especially not for off road use, its one thing for around town quite another if you're taking it on trails. I will say theres a reason why a lot of tire shops wont work on a vehicle with spacers

You have the proper size wheels and 8" width and 3.75" BS is correct for up to a 12:50 width tire any wider a wheel will not allow proper air down off road and stay sealed on the rim. What you should have bought is a 33x12:50x15" tire for the extra width.

I would NEVER repeat NEVER use a spacer for a wider stance so you can go faster on off ramps very poor advice on a lifted Jeep. All spacers are is a Band-Aid for the proper size wheel and never a good idea when their cost for a good set you can buy a new set of steel wheels for the same.

My advice would be to forget about the spacers and be happy with what you have. I expect why you went with a smaller tire was because of the cost of larger tires and new gears to match them. All the spacers would do is cause a lot more stress and wear on the front end and differential.

If you're worried about rollin over on an on/off ramp, slow down. Don't waste money on parts that will cost you more money in the long run.

I ran spacers years ago. I was doing hubs twice a year. Not worth it. You can either save up and get the proper rims and tires, or just slow down. It's a lifted jeep, it's not supposed to go fast anyways.

I've been rolling around on 33x12.50 and now 35x12.50s for awhile and no sway bars. Body roll is there, but I know my limits. 30-40 on a ramp and 65-70 on the highway. I've never felt like I was gonna roll over on a highway. Ever.

unless you want to run wider flares keep what you got. spacers will just push the tires out past the stock flares. that might just get you a inspection ticket. btw quality spacers are fine, if proper torque is maintained.
