I think 3 inch is popular. Just google "homemade snorkel XJ" and you should get some writeups

That safari one, with the tube going through the fender where it does, will it not get crushed when you flex your tire up into your fender?

This is not mine I did just install the exact same thing 2 days ago. Get a $20 bendable 3" tube from the Ricer isle in autozone or discount. Also need a 3" hole saw and I used silicone as well. Very easy and will protect motor from inhaling water all the way to the windshield. Also need to block off the hole in the fron of the airbox.

You could do this

That's my version of a Cowl snorkel since I have abs and can't just run a tube on the drivers side into the Cowl

So if I have abs I can't run that through the fender?

I think dboots was saying that bc of space. Take of you wipers and cowl and see if you have enough space mine just goes right in the cowl the left of the MC. I have seen some come off the throttle body and enter the cowl on the passenger side and use a skinny cone filter on there. Requires more cutting. Just look around and see what you can fit. Google cherokee cowl snorkel and forum search. There are many options . Either way just make sure its sealed. Use something that can handle heat.

WHat I ment was you can't just run it straight into the Cowl on the drivers side if you have abs since you have a bunch of crap next to your master cylinder so if you want to do a Cowl snorkel you can't use your original air box or at least I couldn't figure out how too. But you should be able to run any snorkel that cones out threw a hole in roue fender w or wo abs
