1.Keeps water out of the intake, that would cause your engine to hydrolock. 2.You drill a hole in the fender and run the pipe to the factory air intake box.

And make sure when you mount the pipe to you air box, that it is towards the bottom. That way it still goes through the air filter

Yeah. But for the price I would only get one if you plan on going in deep water, that will go over the hood. The real question is why do you want one if your not sure what it does? My philosophy is if you don't know the what's, the where's, or the how's then don't do it. But that's just me.

About what it does or how to install one? Do you already have one? If so what type?

I dont know how to explain, just look take the lid off your air box, see how the airfilter sits on the airbox, and how there is empty space under the filter. Make sure the snorkel pipe goes into the empty space area, that way the air will be sucked up through the filter, so that it gets filtered.

Haha yeah that would not be a good thing. I know a few people on here have ordered the cheap snorkel off eBay and they seem to love it. That may be an option you might want to look into. Or if you dont think water will be going over your hood you could try the intake cowl relocation idea. I believe there is a writeup on this forum about it.

A good one will run you anywhere from $400-$600. And the eBay one around $150-$200 I think.
