Simple interior mods
I've been thinking about getting one of those recording cameras to put in the windshield in front of my OHC and mounting and associated electronics in the OHC. I also think it would be a great place for switches, if a bit tough to wire due to the location.
Anyway, maybe something cool would happen in front of me. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when that plane in Taiwan? crashed into the bridge/taxi/river, I'm pretty sure both the taxi and the two vehicles behind it had footage.
I'll probably never see anything that f'd up, but I did see a minor hit and run that would've been good to record.
Of course... it also records and stupid **** I may decide to do...
It's 4:30am. I should really be tired by now.

A few mods inside my ZJ. A switch panel, CB, and LED instrument cluster lights.

I'm not the OP, but I know these numbers well.
Floor wells are 1156. I suggest ones with as little protruding out of the bayonet 'can' as possible.
Cluster is size 74. I lot of sites cross reference them with T5, which is a twist LED that sometimes can work. Skip that nonsense and go with 74 that fit into the existing twist sockets.
Transfer case and transmission are size 194. I suggest the kind that are flat with two LEDs, one on each side. They light evenly. I remove the extra resistors on the ones I've sold.
T4.2 for rockers and HVAC, but the HVAC lighting sucks. It's almost not worth messing with unless you wanna pull out the soldering iron and go custom.
The dome center is a 44mm festoon with loops. Most of them will face forward, so the light shines at the windshield instead of down. I'm trying to get some made to my specifications, but they wouldn't be green.
The reading lamps are 194 as well. I suggest any one of these with a chip on board (leds covered in yellow diffusion material) that fits in the enclosure.
Cargo is a 42mm festoon (fuse) type. You can use (knockoff) cree types or really anything there, but brightness varies considerably.
If you have the OHC, it also uses 42mm festoon type bulbs / LEDs.
The vanity mirrors use 29mm long festoon type LEDs. I forget the proper name off the top of my head.
That's about it I think. I assume you're asking about 97-01. Earlier years are different.
EDIT: I just realized I replied to a months old post. Bulb numbers anyway. Enjoy/.

The guy in the subaru told the cop that the light was green when he went turned. Complete BS of course. He was hauling *** through that red light... he had enough momentum that he kept going relatively straight even tho impact was dead center in the two doors.
Anyway, I figured I was SOL cause I didn't have any proof.
I slow down in situations like this now. If it had been a bigger vehicle and the impact had been different, it could've sucked for me.
Sad thing though... the XJ ate it and was towed / totaled. The subaru was able to drive away. All his side glass was broken and the interior plastic panels were all over the place. Kind cool looking from my perspective, although I'm glad there wasn't a kid in the baby seat he had.

Since the dash is made from ABS plastic, I used scrap ABS from TAP plastics and ABS pipe cement to rebuild the duct after cutting clearance for the plugs. The cigarette lighter was the one that needed the most clearance. If you don't care about the duct and don't mind air leaking out behind the panel, you don't have to rebuild the duct.
The panel that the cigarette lighter is mounted to is basically a big square with one hole in the middle. Lots of wasted room!
There is an overlay that covers the panel and has the cigarette graphic on it, just peel that off. The panel, like the dash, is also made from abs, so I filled in the hole with more ABS scraps and cement and then cut out a clean square from the ABS and glued it on top of the panel. I then cut the new holes for the outlets, 12v port, switches etc. The switch turns on a relay that powers the inverter which is mounted under the dash near the TCU. I moved the TCU over a little bit.Sorry, I don't have pics, I'm never good at remembering to document things like this. I always wish I had. Once I get an idea, i just start working on it and kinda forget about the pics.
I do have plans to remove the dash to work on the AC and other stuff, but I don't know when that will happen. I may not remember to take pics either. =\ But if I do, I'll post them here.
