I've been doing some research on shocks and was hearing some things about ome and bilsteins, I currently have blown out pro comp shocks and was wondering which shock would best fit my set up:
4.5 inch rustys coils with re adj upper and lower control arms
3.5 inch rustys leafs with 1.5 inch shackles
im running 33" bfg all terrains, i mostly daily drive, around town and on highway, but do some wheeling on occasion, so which shocks would best fit my xj, i've been leaning towards bilstein 5100's but heard they're pretty stiff and i've also heard ome are too soft.
i also have a warn rear tire carrier and a custom winch bumper, so maybe that weight could affect something in some way.
any suggestions or opinions are appreciated,
thanks!

I ran the OME Nitros that came with my kit for about two years and recently switched to Bilstein 5100's; I noticed the difference immediately. Not sure if it had to do with all of the added weight to the XJ and the 5100's valving being more up to handling that weight, but I definitely prefer them over the Nitros.

I have the Bilsteins and they are super nice. I feel that they are a little on the soft side, but if you dd your jeep and don't do a lot of the fast stuff, you will love them.

serious offroad has some awesome prices! i wish i had checked them out before i bought things elsewhere. ill probably get the 5100's in the 4 shock set. my question is should i get the 3.5"-4.5" set or the 5.5"-6.5" set, im sitting at 4.5" of lift but dont want to be limited to my amount of travel, or be maxing out the 4.5" shock. maybe the 5.5"-6.5" will have a little bit more "room".

Just flex till there is about an inch of shock shaft left and measure for bumpstops.

You will need them to keep the shocks from bottoming out. At least I do
and blackhawks look a little out of my price range haha

The shocks will run out of up travel before the suspension does since they are for a taller lift. The reward for this is, you will get much more down travel out of them. The ladies love droop
