My shackle currently is completely vertical. Just wondering if the only way to fix my shackle angle is with the hd offroad relocation bracket? I was kinda hoping i could just use a boomerang shackle but I don't think I'm that lucky. I'm sitting on a 3 inch lift and would like to go up to 4.5 later but right now I don't wanna mess with driveline issues so I'm looking for your advice.

Perhaps longer springs would help? That maybe isn't something you want to do though.

Whenever I read about guys with shackles that are to long for their springs' eye-to-eye length causing vertical shackle, the subject of shackle relocation brackets comes up as a solution. I'm sure shackle relocation is one viable solution.

However, wouldn't it be more beneficial to leave the long shackle mounted in stock location and get a longer spring?

I don't know for sure. I'm theorizing. It seems to me that a longer spring would be matched to a longer shackle that's mounted in stock locaton, thus giving good shackle angle with the longer shackles, and improved flex and ride quality advantages of a longer spring. The combination of extra articulation from longer shackle and longer spring would be great, plus longer springs can give better ride quality. At least that's my theory. I'm not an expert on leaf spring issues.

Ive read that some springs will give you correct angle and are long enough however i guess Zone isn't one of the companies unless i got unlucky. I don't wanna buy new springs being these are only 6 months old. The problem with the relocation is the 1 inch lift is the easy to install one and zero lift on the one you need to hack the shackle box apart. Not wanting the lift right now has me leaning toward the hack job but im still not sure thats what i want to do.

I'd personally like to try my longer spring idea with some longer shackles, but I don't know where to buy appropriately (slightly) longer springs that would fit an XJ.

Does anyone know of anyone who has longer shackles and longer springs that are a good match for each other to result in a good shackle angle with shackle still mounted in stock location on frame?

I think that would be a great lift kit idea. Is there a company that sells it? Is that what bastard packs and/or S10 springs are about?

Personally I have OME springs and stock shackles and it works well, but the idea above seems to me to have potential for an improvement.

Wow wish hd off-road would have used his post for install instructions makes way more sense now. I don't like the fact I will have bolts showing through to the interior though.

Interesting, I used those too and got about 1.5-2 inch lift form it and have the shackle at about 45%. Much better ride now though and the lift worked for me cause I am now running 35's.

I wouldn't mind getting new coils to got to 4.5 in the front. RE coils are only $100 it's the sye and driveshaft that are$$ and the fact that 31 inch tires will look dumb. Essentially it will cost $1500 to go up an inch and then I might as well get long arms if I'm gunna be at 4.5 inches. Seems inevitable I guess
