Default Serious Brake Problem..

So I don't know if this is my doing or not. I did my brakes about 2 weeks ago and they were working GREAT untill today. Now i have to press all the way to the floor to get my WJ to slow down... Obviously a serious problem. This is my only vehicle and i cant afford to miss work, but i also cant afford to lose my life...

A little background Info: Still has stock calipers (not akebono) and when i did my brakes it was the first time. It was a learning experience. I un tightened the wrong screw and caused (SOME) brake fluid to leak, quickly tightened it back up. Brakes have been working great and suddenly today i have to floor it just to slow down..

If anyone can suggest anything that would be great, I gatta get on the move in the next few hours.. can i temporarily add break fluid? aggh..

Brake fluid was empty so i just went to 7/11 and filled it up. Idk what the issue could be maby the bolt i accidentally loosened i didn't tighten enough and over the course of 2 weeks emptied itself? any help would be appreciated.

take your jeep to a shop and have them do it right.

DO NOT SKIMP ON BREAKS. ITS NOT JUST YOUR LIFE BUT ALL OF OURS AS WELL.

Breaks should be the last thing a beginner trys to tackle.

I completely understand. It was pretty scary on my way home today. I park at my friends house everything is fine, then i leave to travel home and my wj was having a difficult time stopping... & i have a 15 month old son. Last thing i would want is to leave him behind. I filled my brake fluid and got a few extra bottles because i have to go to work untill im off on Tuesday to take it in. I believe its my fault, hopefully the mechanic can pinpoint the problem.

you probably opened the bleeder when you did your brakes, letting that bit of fluid out. any yeah, you probably didn't tighten it enough.

when you fill your reservoir, do you get good pedal feel? and for how long. this will determine how bad the leak is.
you can go back under and try tightening the bleeder (probably 8mm or so) and see if everything is back to normal again.

or you could go to a shop and get them to do it. they can also look at your lines to see if it's leaking anywhere else, but chances are you already figured out your problem....

Sounds to me like when you accidently loosened the bleeding screw you probably allowed air to get sucked back up. Try bleeding your brakes imo

Have a friend help you bleed your brakes. I advise doing a proper brake bleed at least twice since you emptied your sysytem.

put fluid in. pump the brakes til it goes to the floor, then go under the jeep and find the puddle. find out where that puddle is coming from, and get back to us.

FYI, breaks are what I'm always watching the clock waiting for at work. Brakes are what keep you from being lodged in the back of Grandma's Buick when she's cruising at "highway speeds" in a school zone

OK... So after i did my brakes the Brake light never went off.... I thought something was odd about that. Checking online everything said I just needed to replace my brake censors but it wasn't a big deal... So i let it be.. So i didnt worry about it., Reading all your posts, it must be the bleeder... Slow leak. When i filled the fluid the Brake light went off for the first time since I did my brakes, and its braking like a champ!

SO... bleeding the brakes? i have a extra bottle of brake fluid. I will search this subject and do this on my next day off. Thanks for all the help.

After this crap happened i went to 7/11 and bought some brake fluid
