Default Rustys lift kit

I own a 2000 jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 and 200000 miles on it and I was looking at the rustys 3 inch lift kit .. What additional hardware will be needed ? Transfer case drop kit ? SYO? Will I run into any problems with my driveshaft being too short ? Or is a lift kit a bad idea on a rig with 200000 miles on it ?

first off ... If you've had that 0331 head replaced, 200k miles is just getting broken in! LOL I would do it if you'll use it. Nobody can tell you if you'll need a DS or SYE. Every Jeep is a little different. You will need new leaf springs bolts for sure, they rust solid into the bushing. For a good 3" lift you will need;

Coils
LCA
Full new leaf pack

Track bar is optional but I would do it..

At the end of the day.. I say go for it!

I bought the jeep with 180000 miles and to my understanding the original head is still on it .. She hasn't given me a fit yet .. Just a little bit of oil leaks but that to be expected .. I maintain her meticulously .. And she returns the favor .. Very trusty jeep

if it were me I'd lift it. But just know that head will crack eventually.

The head will only crack if it over heats... it won't crack for no reason.

I have a '99 with a Rustys 3" lift, when I first installed it, it had bad vibes but tc drop and new u-joints fix it. Overall I'm happy with it.

Yup good advice from all. Theres good and bad reviews on most all lift companies so I say get what you want. For sure get full leaf packs. Remember now, with aftermarket suspension components things will be a little more bumpy on the road. Old Man Emu and Rubicon Express are really the only ones that have accomplished the "stock ride lift". However bilstein shocks help if you want to get those.

If your ride has any existing front suspension issues (sloppy ball joints, trackbar mount, steering box, ends, unit bearings, etc) a lift will magnify them 1000x. Make sure to set aside some cash for the impending extras.

The Rustys 3" full leaf/coil package is an excellent choice and one of the very few to have American made springs most are made in China now. I have been running his kit for over 3 yrs. now with zero issues including no sag. BTW my 99 had 220,000 mi on it when I installed the kit.

In fact I'm still using the kit with my 4 1/2" lift, 1 1/2" Boomerang Shackles and coil spacers but now running Bilstein shocks and SYE.

You could get by with a TC drop kit but I would try to go with an SYE if possible, you will need an adj. track bar. I used stock control arms with 3" lift but that also depends on what tires and wheels you will be running. My fenders are trimmed and I ran 33x12:50xs15's on a 15x8" wheel with 3.75" of BS. As I recall the rest of the hardware is included in the kit. Make sure its the full leaf kit not a AAL kit.
