Running front AND rear lockers.... winter question.
Alright guys, I have an Aussie locker in the rear of the XJ but came across a great deal on an Aussie front locker as well. I am well aware duel lockers would dominate on the hills and climbing in general, but have any of you ran both in the winter with the snow and ice? I wish I could afford an air locker, but these lunchbox lockers are really I would put in my lower end build jeep. All the popping and clacking would be interesting on turns........
Would running in 4 hi at around 40mph be feasible on the heavier snow days like it is on open difs?

A front locker is mostly unnoticable in 2wd on the road.
I put my XJ in 4wd to start from a stop then go back to 2wd after I'm moving. If the snow is deep enough to need 4wd you probably won't be going 40mph.

I ran front and rear lunchbox lockers in my TJ before I regeared it I hated it in 4wd in the snow, Once I regeared the Jeep I ran ARB's front and rear. I will not lock the front diff on a vehicle unless it is a selectable locker

For a car to turn properly, the outer wheel has to spin faster as it has further to travel.
Putting a locker in means they both travel at the same speed so the outer wheel is going to be draged around the corner, increasing understeer

Nope... They will spin freely from each other until force is applied and one tire spins at a higher speed then itll lock... And I mean more of a higher speed as in not just turning a corner... There is one lunchbox locker that is always locked until u turn then it unlocks... Forget whos that is...
And if one tire lets go and starts spinning fast in snow then thats when i want the other side to lock in and take traction anyways...

Just don't drive it like an idiot until you are comfortable with how it handles in the snow. Like most any modification it will handle differently, just will take some getting used to.
