rugged ridge sye problem
Anyone else have issues with these? I just got one shipped in and there is surface rust on nearly every part of the tail housing. Plus the bearing doesn't seem very smooth. That said I test fit the new yoke and there seemed to be alot of play on the splines....anyone have similar issues or insight. Gonna see if I can have it replaced today.

Rust on the tail housing???
I thought they were aluminium?
I will call the vendor if i were you.
Who did you get them from?
If you are talking about play on the output shaft...some play is normal but once you installed the tailhousing, there should not be any play.
I got mine from adamsdriveshaft.....great guys to deal with.

It is aluminum, it is more or less dirty. I meant to say rust on the preinstalled bearing. I'm not sure what kinda of fit the bearing is suppose to have but it seems to be binding. About a quarter turn and it wont budge. I called them and said since I bought of from Amazon they can't do anything unless it breaks because of it. I'm just going to chance it and see how it goes. I'm putting it in a donor case before it goes on the Jeep anyway so now I'm just rolling the dice.

Just did my RR SYE last week. All was well with it. The tail shaft had some play until you torque the large nut on the end of the tailshaft, that will draw it up against the bearing race and seat it properly. Good luck!
