Default Rubber Police/Fleet Version In An '97 To '01

So I have done some sound deadening to my '00. More a "while we are here thing". Did the roof because I put in an overhead console. The doors cause I replaced door checks, put some Infinity Tweeters in, and replaced the Tinted (which is just UV protection) with Privacy glass (which is actually tinted).

So I figure at some point I will do the floor.

Being aware that Police/Fleet versions came with the rubber floor got me thinking. Maybe try to score one of those and use it instead of some sort of sound deadening material.

But will the carpet lay down on top of the rubber floor?

Anybody have any thoughts as to if it will and not look all bunched up?

Anybody know the thickness of one of those rubber floors?

My Comanche had the vinyl floor and it had insulation behind it just like the carpet does, so I'd think you'd basically be trying to fit 2 carpets in there and it might be a tight squeeze. The Cherokee stuff might be different, but I can't say for certain.

I have seen a couple pictures of the rubber floor with insulation on it like you say. Was thinking I would rip it all off. Any chance you can ball park the thickness of the rubber for me?

It's definitely thinner than the sound deadening I have in my Cherokee. Probably somewhere around 1/8" if I had to guess. It's been a little while since I tore it out.

The sound deadening material I am considering using is 1/4". Best I can tell. But have to assume it would give more then a rubber floor when installing the carpet back on top. I could probably squish it down and press in place better on top of the sound deadening material.
